Apple Patent reveals Plans for Double sided iPhone Nano

A recent patent filing unearthed by MacNN reveals Apple plans for a double sided iPhone nano.

The full face-side of this device will be nothing more than a display, much like the iPhone is today, while the back-side will be primarily dominated by a force-sensitive touch based surface. Your fingers, which act as a cursor, control the face-side UI by the back-side etched controls.

The dramatic design will offer users a variety of interfaces or modes to work with including one for a phone, text messaging, a traditional iPod, a camera mode and more. The design may also, according to Apple, simply offer consumers with a dual-sided display option in lieu of a force sensitive controller surface.

According to the report, it is unclear how the etched controller idea would work. Would they be interchangeable or preset or could the back surface change itself.

Apple credits John G. Elias part owner of the former FingerWorks as the sole inventor of this patent application. Elias is now working at Apple on other touch related patents.

Charlie Miller to Demonstrate iPhone SMS Hack at Black Hat Conference Today

Almost a month ago we linked to an Engadget report on Charlie Miller and his SMS exploit for the iPhone. Well, today is the day he intends to show it off at the Black Hat conference.

Thanks to some last minute media attention, however, the general iPhone user base seems to be getting a tad nervous. And rightly so. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, in an ideal world, NSA expert come iHacker Charlie, who’s claim to current fame is using Mac exploits to win Pwn2own contests and free laptops, would work with companies like Apple and Microsoft (yes, it looks like Windows Mobile has an exploit as well), and those companies would patch the exploits as immediately as possible, before any “research” was publicly disclosed and any bad guys decided to use them as attack vectors.

TiPb will update post-Miller’s Black Hack disclosure, and hopefully Apple will roll the security fix into a quick 3.0.2 firmware release, or hurry 3.1 out of the gate.

Looks like they might fix this exploit soon. But until then, all iphones are in danger. To prevent this, if you get a text message with a single square character… Turn your phone off ASAP to prevent damage!

FiveIrows does not conflict anymore with FiveIconDock!

Yes, that is right!

The popular add on for the ipod/iphone is now fixed and is now compaitable with the five icon dock addon.

What the problem was is that when you had FiveIconDock installed, it caused the icons above the dock to get messed up and bunch up in a corner and have blank spots and so on.

But not anymore.

So feel free to download and install FiveColum springboard, FiveIrows, and fiveicondock 😀 with no problems

GPower, the “Power off” extender.

What GPower looks like

What GPower looks like

GPower extends your power down screen to include options for restaring SpringBoard, and rebooting.

If you’ve ever been in a situation where you need to respring your iPhone but can’t get to the proper app to do so but you can get the power off slider, GPower simply adds the ability to respring, reboot, as well as power off your iPhone. It does it by adding two extra sliders under the power off slider giving easy access to those functions. Perfect for someone who needs to respring a lot.

Apple preparing ipod touch with a microphone and camera

Another rumour to spill out of the rumour mill, this one again is the iPod Touch 3G, with Camera and Mic. According to a “well connected source” at Wired, They have received word of that new iPod Touch’s are being made now with these new features included.

Here is the Wired article.

A well-connected source tells us those rumors are on the money, and that Apple’s factories in China are already manufacturing iPod Touch models with integrated cameras and microphones. An Apple spokesman declined to comment when reached by phone.

If iPod Touches with cameras and microphones go on sale “in two to three months,” as our source expects them to (and which corresponds with our expected timeframe), they will transform the entertainment-oriented iPod Touch line into a voice communications tool wherever WiFi is available.

In addition to these voice-over-IP capabilities, which should have telephone providers quaking in their boots, the microphone (and camera) would enable the iPod Touch to understand voice commands, capture video and images, and work with a wider variety of programs in the App Store.

(Plus, as some Wired commenters have suggested, one could combine a microphone-equipped iPod Touch with the Verizon MiFi personal hotspot creator to enable — at long last — the iPhone experience on Verizon’s network.)

Well, if you guys don’t know… I have not been posting any videos, tweets, or anything really. thats because i’ve been busy with ging to NJ and with friends and family. I will be posting more when i get back from jersey but until then, ill be hiatus.
